Creative minds across Malawi have praised Mikozi for launching the Mikozi Creative Studios, a state-of-the-art facility designed to elevate the country’s arts and creativity to a competitive force on the global stage.
Seasoned poet Q Malawezi expressed his enthusiasm for the new studios, stating that the facility will inspire greater innovation and creativity within Malawi’s creative industry as a whole.
In a Facebook post, social media influencer Conex Banda, known for his “Taonani” series, echoed Malawezi’s sentiments. He pointed out that the Mikozi Creative Studios have already begun creating jobs in a space often dismissed as mere entertainment. Banda emphasized that the studio will benefit many Malawians and even attract international collaborations.
Adding to the chorus of praise, France-based social commentator Onjezani Kenani lauded Mikozi’s initiative as a testament to exceptional focus, diligence, and dedication. He called it an example for others to follow.
Mikozi Networks officially launched its modern studio on Wednesday, with the goal of harnessing arts and creativity to drive economic growth through job creation and foreign exchange generation by digitally exporting creative work.
Between 2020 and 2022, Mikozi collaborated with numerous creatives and secured sponsorship from various corporate bodies and NGOs, including Standard Bank, Global Hope Mobilization, TNM, Eco Bank, Fadeth, and Premier Bet, among others.
These partnerships supported online performances by several musicians, including Joseph Nkasa, Lawrence Mbenjele, Piksy, Hyphen, Gwamba, Kell Kay, Driemo, and Phyzix.
In 2022, Mikozi embarked on the journey of constructing the Creative Studios, which is now fully operational.
The launch event featured a live performance by trending star Onesimus, marking the beginning of what promises to be a new era for Malawi’s creative industry.
Mikozi Networks, founded by former hip-hop artist Bright Chiligo, popularly known as Excess, began as a Facebook page focused on gossip and music promotions. Over time, it has evolved into a leading marketing hub for individuals and institutions alike.
Currently, Mikozi’s Facebook page boasts over 1 million followers, making it the most followed arts promotion platform in Malawi.
