After producing over 200 episodes of Podcast Malawi, producer Kay Leon has announced his departure from the self-proclaimed number one podcast in Malawi.
Kay Leon, whose real name is Noel Kamanga, announced his exit through a statement posted on his Facebook page a short while ago.
The producer indicated that he has left Podcast Malawi to focus on new ventures and personal development.
“Being a part of this journey has been an incredible experience, filled with learning, creativity, and connection,” reads part of his statement.
Kay Leon, fondly addressed as “The Don” on Podcast Malawi, also praised the podcast for giving him the opportunity to be part of the team.
Leon joined Podcast Malawi two years ago when Mac Nyoni was the host. According to him, former host Mac Nyoni was the best co-worker he ever had at the podcast.
“When I joined Podcast Malawi, it was just the two of us, me and Mac Nyoni. I remember we used to record episodes for the entire month in one day. It was fun working with him,” said Kay Leon during Podcast Malawi’s 100th episode.
Although he was mainly behind the cameras, his thoughts and contributions on the microphone made people eager to see his face. Finally, in the 100th episode, which premiered in 2023, viewers had the chance to meet the man behind the famous “Peee! Peee!” sound effect on the podcast.
Currently, Podcast Malawi has yet to issue a statement regarding the departure of its longest-serving producer.
Kay Leon isn’t the first to leave Podcast Malawi. In the past, others such as Dennis Imaan, Mwiza Hamigo, and Ngugi International have also departed from the company.
