Kell Kay has revealed that his highly anticipated surprise album, initially set to drop last week, has been postponed due to mixed reactions from fans to his latest track, titled ‘Amen’.

The Amapiano song, which features Fada Moti and Tuno, has sparked divided opinions, with some fans hailing it as a hit, while others have expressed less enthusiasm. Despite this, the artist has assured fans that the upcoming album will showcase a different sound, promising the classic Kell Kay style that they love.

“We were supposed to release a surprise album on Friday. ‘Amen’ was just a lead single—it’s not even part of the main album, just a bonus track. It doesn’t fit the theme of the album, but we wanted to put it out there.” He clarified.

Speaking on the Jaa Kev podcast, Kell Kay further explained that the mixed reactions to the song were part of his strategy, as he anticipated a strong response from his fan base.

“As an artist, you have to evolve and try new things. You can’t keep feeding people the same stuff all the time, If I keep doing the same thing, people will lose interest.” He said.

He added that while he values fan feedback, he will continue to push boundaries creatively.

“I wanted to hear from the fans, and I’ve heard them—they want the old Kell Kay. But even if they criticize, I’ll still try something new tomorrow.”
