The Film Association of Malawi (FAMA) has issued a call for corporate sponsorships and urged government departments, agencies, and individuals to support this year’s Malawi Film Festival.

FAMA made this appeal during a press conference where they announced that the third edition of the Malawi Film Festival is scheduled for November 29th and 30th at the Golden Peacock Hotel in Lilongwe.

Philemon Layson Kuipa, the festival’s coordinator, revealed that this year’s event, themed ‘Embracing Malawian Culture through Films,’ has a budget of K21 million.

“The goal of this year’s festival is to encourage filmmakers to incorporate elements of Malawi’s diverse cultures into their productions,” Kuipa said.

Kuipa also shared that this year’s festival will differ from the previous two editions by offering financial rewards to participating talents.

Currently, companies such as HDPlus, Old Mutual, and MultiChoice have pledged their support for the event.

The Malawi Film Festival, which began in 2022, has consistently attracted international participants, further elevating the event’s profile.
