The “Controller” hitmaker, Onesimus, has announced his ambitious plans to take Malawian music to a global audience after securing his third international award—Best Song of the year at Nigeria’s Music Video Africa Awards (MVAA).
This announcement aligns with his recent moves, including teaming up with Nigerian sensation Joe Boy for the remix of his hit track “Controller.”
Speaking on Times Radio, Onesimus revealed that his focus is now on breaking into the international scene and that fans should expect more from him in the near future.
“This year, I want to focus on expanding my territory so we can push Malawian music on a global level,” he said.
Onesimus was recently in Nigeria shooting the music video for the “Controller” remix with Joe Boy, which has been well-received globally. Streaming numbers for the song continue to rise across various platforms.
Reflecting on his success this year, the artist admitted that some milestones came as a surprise, including his nomination and win at the Tanzanian Hapa Awards.
“People need to hear Malawian music. They deserve to know that we are live and direct from Malawi, and we are making and delivering great music,” Onesimus added.
With his growing international presence and strategic collaborations, Onesimus is positioning himself as a key player in taking Malawian music to new heights.
