Former Malawian football star Robin Ngalande, who once represented the country on international stages has been named UMP Sports Brand Ambassador.
Ngalande was officially unveiled during a press conference organized by UMP this morning at Amaryllis Hotel. UMP Sports Coordinator Wati Mang’anda revealed that Ngalande has been offered a three-year contract, with an option for renewal.
“His contract involves promoting and participating in UMP sports activities. It will run for three years, with the possibility of renewal,” Mang’anda said.
Ngalande expressed his excitement about the new role, especially as he transitions away from his professional football career.
“I’m very happy to be appointed as the sports brand ambassador, and I’ve embraced the opportunity. It has always been my wish to give back to the community, and I believe that through this initiative, I can make a real impact. I see this not just as entertainment but as therapy, as many people are going through tough times, and sports, music brings positive energy,” he said.
Born in Dedza, Ngalande began his career at Civo United before joining the youth team of Spanish club Atlético Madrid in September 2010, having previously played for the youth side of South African club Mamelodi Sundowns.
